• In July of 2021 we moved into a new residence with 28 windows and one glass door to the porch. We have used Hunter Douglas shades in all of the homes we have owned since 1975 and decided to use them for all of the window coverings in our new residence. We worked with East Greenbush Window Coverings (an approved contractor for the community we moved into) and had a great experience with them and we highly recommend them for anyone shopping for window coverings.

   

  For the 28 windows we wound up purchasing 18 blinds, 8 of which are motorized. We really love the motorized shades. You can control up to six shades with one controller and can adjust any one of them separately, any combination of the shades, or all of them together. We have six on one controller and at night, a single push of a button closes all of them. If you need to totally or partially close some of them during the day to block the sun, you just choose which ones you want to adjust and hit “close”. When they are down as far as you want, you just hit “stop”.

   

  The controllers are simple to use and are battery powered. The shades are also powered by batteries that are rechargeable. They just pop out, fit into the charger and then pop right back into the shades. After a month of daily use, we have not yet had to recharge the batteries. Although the shades are expensive, we feel that the cost is worth it. In fact, we are so enamored with these shades that we are considering replacing manually operated shades in the master bedroom with motorized ones.
